WeldRo SW-100 STUD WELDER

Capacitor Discharge Stud Welding is an arc pressure welding process. It creates an arc between the pin and the workpiece, which melts both parts.

In CD welding, you have the ability to weld small diameter stud to very thin welding material (0.7 mm thickness). Since the entire weld cycle completed in several milliseconds, welds can be made to thin sheet of metal with advantage of

  • Distortion reduced to a minimum through low thermal stress
  • Dissimilar material joining (Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper, Aluminium and etc)
  • High productivity through extremely short welding time
  • Very little or no damage to the reverse side

CAPACITOR DISCHARGE STUD WELDING PROCESS

STEP 1

The stud is placed against the workpiece

STEP 2

The stud is lifted off, while current is flowing, thus creating an arc.

STEP 3

The arc melts the surfaces of stud and workpiece

STEP 4

The stud is plunged into the weld pool.

STEP 5

A cross-sectional stud welding joint achieved.
